RIVERSIDE, Calif.—Deputies are searching for the young killer of two women who were stabbed to death in a rural Southern California community.

Riverside County sheriff's investigators say deputies found the wounded women after responding to a call Monday evening in the unincorporated Nuevo area east of Perris.

The coroner's office says 25-year-old Connie Gonzalez died at the scene and her 51-year-old mother Maria Gonzalez died a short time later at a hospital.

Witnesses told deputies an 18- to 20-year-old man in dark clothing ran away after the attack. He has eluded capture.

Sgt. Jim Erickson says a motive for the killings hasn't been determined.
