Two men have been arrested on suspicion of burglarizing an apartment storage room in Mountain View, police said Tuesday.

Police were called to the Americana Apartments on Continental Circle just before 5:50 p.m. Saturday by witnesses who said they saw the men take items from the room and then leave in a pickup truck.

Officers found the truck a few minutes later in the parking lot of Goodwill, 855 E. El Camino Real, with one man, Lawrence Ovadia, 33, of Los Altos, still inside. The other man, Sterling Winterhalter, 28, of Mountain View, was standing outside and ran when he saw the officers, police said.

Officers chased Winterhalter to a nearby Lucky grocery store and arrested him. Ovadia was also taken into custody.

Witnesses identified Winterhalter and Ovadia as the men who burglarized the storage room, police said.

Items from the room as well as other stolen property were allegedly found in the truck. Detectives are working to return the stolen property to its rightful owners.

Both men were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for burglary, conspiracy and possession of stolen property, police said.
