CHINO HILLS - The city will accept applications for its Youth Scholarship and Summer Day Camp Scholarship Programs starting on Monday.

The scholarships are designed to help economically-disadvantaged youth participate in city-sponsored Recreation classes or special events and the Summer Day Camp program.

Funding has been provided by the Chino Hills Community Foundation which was formed in 2008 to support cultural, educational, and recreational projects in Chino Hills.

A separate application is required for each of the programs.

Children 17 years of age and younger who qualify, and are selected, will be awarded $125 to be used for recreation classes and special events, and/or a space in the Summer Day Camp program through the summer.

There are a limited number of scholarships available and participants must meet income eligibility requirements.

Income levels must be at or below established maximum gross income levels based on Housing and Urban Development Department guidelines:

Applications are available online.

Completed applications should be marked: "Youth Scholarship Program" and returned to the Recreation Counter at Chino Hills City Hall, 14000 City Center Drive.

Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
