TEMECULA, Calif.—A parolee who was being pursued as a suspect in an assault has been shot by authorities in Temecula.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports ( http://bit.ly/12oWayQ) the parolee was caught by authorities and Monday's shooting occurred after they tried to place the man under arrest.

Riverside County sheriff's Deputy Albert Martinez says the suspect was rushed to a hospital and his condition was unavailable.

The parolee was suspected of assault with a deadly weapon. He was being pursued by two task forces: a California Department of Corrections apprehension team and a regional fugitive unit.
