WOODLAND HILLS - Oregon state police have arrested a 24-year-old Los Angeles woman in connection with the murder of her mother in Woodland Hills, Oregon authorities said today.
Oregon State troopers placed Laura Purviance into custody about 4 a.m. Friday at the Valley of the Rogue rest area along Interstate 5, about 13 miles north of Medford, according to Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings.
Laura Purviance was wanted for the murder of her 61-year-old mother, Caroline Sue Purviance, who was found shot to death inside her Woodland Hills home in the 5600 block of Mason Avenue, about 8:20 p.m. Thursday, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Christopher No of the Media Relations office and coroner investigator Christie McCracken.
Investigators identified Laura Purviance as the suspect in a domestic violence act that claimed her mother's life, according to Los Angeles police Homicide Detective Dave Peteque.
LAPD detectives were headed to Oregon to continue their homicide investigation, Hastings said.
The suspect remains in custody in Oregon, according to Hastings.
