LONG BEACH — Two girls are in serious condition after being injured Friday by a hit-and-run driver, a police spokeswoman said.

The two 16-year-old girls were walking in a crosswalk at Cherry Avenue and Bixby Road when they were struck by Vanessa Flores, 20, of Long Beach, said Marlene Arrona, a spokeswoman with the Long Beach Police Department.

When police arrived, they found the victims at the scene. Flores was located a short time later.

She was arrested and booked for felony hit and run, Arrona said.

Arrona said she didn't know if the girls had a green light when crossing the street or were walking against the light.
