RICHMOND -- A pedestrian was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center with major injuries after being struck by a car on an Interstate 80 onramp Thursday afternoon.
At 5 p.m., CHP reported to calls of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian on the onramp to eastbound I-80 at Cutting Boulevard in Richmond. When officers arrived, they found a pedestrian with serious injuries who had been hit by a 2004 silver Isuzu pick-up truck. Officers don't know why the person, who was not identified, was walking on the ramp; the extent of their injuries was unknown.
The driver of the pick-up truck was not arrested, but the pick-up truck was impounded for 30 days because the driver had a suspended license.
It is unclear if an arrest will be made.
The identity of the driver was also not released.
