SAN DIEGO—Federal officials say the arrest of 13 people has stopped a drug ring that was bringing methamphetamine and cocaine into San Diego County from cartels based in Tijuana and Guadalajara.

Six people named in a criminal complaint remain fugitives.

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Agent William Sherman tell U-T San Diego the drug ring was making a huge profit.

Twelve defendants were arrested Wednesday. Seven are from Vista, two from San Marcos and one each from Oceanside, Spring Valley and Los Angeles. One person was previously arrested.

Ten people were arraigned in federal court Thursday on drug conspiracy charges.

The arrests came after a year-long investigation by the DEA and Major Mexican Traffickers Strike Force.
