ADELANTO -- An Adelanto man was behind bars after a 56-year-old mentally disabled man was attacked late Friday night, sheriff's officials said Saturday.

Deputies received a call at 10:15 p.m. reporting the attack in the 18800 block of Del Mano Court, said sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Bachman.

Deputies arrested 35-year-old Keith Wimberly on suspicion of attempted murder, officials said.

Wimberly was booked into the Victor Valley Jail in Victorville where he was being held on $1 million bail.
