Two divers who drowned Friday in Whaler's Cove at Point Lobos State Reserve south of Carmel were identified Monday by State Parks officials as Volodymyer Butsky, 40, and Marina Butsky, 41, both of San Jose.

The two were scuba diving in the cove and they were found at about 2:45 p.m., given cardiopulmonary resuscitation by state lifeguards and Carmel Highlands firefighters, then taken to Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, where they were pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Cause of the drowning is pending an investigation by the Coroner's Office, according to State Parks public safety superintendent Eric Adma.
