LOS ANGELES—Los Angeles firefighters have battled and beat back flames spitting through the roof of a two-story home near 62nd and Main streets.

Smoke could be seen for miles but witnesses say no one was injured.

KTTV-TV says some school police officers from a nearby school were first to arrive at the burning home and talked to residents who said everyone had gotten out of the house.

In addition, firefighters checked both floors of the home and found no victims.

The cause of the 8 a.m. fire was not immediately determined.
