Downey deaths: 2 slain men identified

DOWNEY — Two men were stabbed, shot and killed in an attack outside a restaurant in Downey, a police lieutenant said.

Downey police were dispatched to George's Restaurant and Bar, 7857 Florence Ave., about 2 a.m. Sunday found two men, both in their 30s, suffering from stab and gunshot wounds, said Downey police Lt. Mark McDaniel.

Paramedics rushed both victims to an area hospital, where they were pronounced dead, McDaniel said.

There was a fight in the parking lot between the victims and the suspects and during the fight one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and shot both victims, he said.

The suspects, described only as males, were last seen fleeing the location west on Florence Avenue in unknown vehicles, McDaniel said.

Downey police detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the shooting and stabbing attack to call them at (562) 904-2329.
