Fresh off his much-talked-about small-club show at South by Southwest, Prince has confirmed he's about to kick off a West Coast tour that reportedly includes four shows in two nights at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco.
The tour is slated to launch in mid-April, and includes two shows each on April 23 and 24 at the DNA Lounge. Ticket information has not been released yet. The DNA Lounge, an intimate (by Prince's standards) club at 375 11th St. in San Francisco's South of Market district, had not listed the shows on its calendar as of Thursday (March 21) afternoon.
Prince announced the tour -- which so far is limited to 7 cites and small to mid-size clubs -- in a Wednesday night video chat with blogger Dr. Funkenberry, the Los Angeles Times reported. Also present were members of Prince's backing band 3rd Eye Girl.
Other cites on the tour, according to Dr. Funkenberry's website, include Vancouver, B.C., Seattle, Las Vegas, San Diego, Tempe, Ariz., and Anaheim.
Other dates are expected to be announced.
According to Los Angeles Times, ticket information is expected in about a week.
