WATSONVILLE -- Two masked men, one armed with a rifle or shotgun, robbed Roger'’s Diner on Green Valley Road about 9:20 p.m. Sunday, police said.

The men quickly entered the restaurant, demanded money from the clerk and ran off with the cash drawer containing an undisclosed amount of money, Sgt. Brian Ridgway said.

There were more than a dozen people inside the restaurant, he said.

The suspects were seen getting into an old grey sedan that was parked about a quarter mile away, and speeding eastward on Green Valley Road, Ridgway said.

There have been several robberies in the county this year, including one in Watsonville on about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, in which two men, one armed with a handgun, entered Wooden Nickel Bar & Grill and stole money from the restaurant, near the corner of Green Valley Road and Freedom Boulevard.
