BOULDER CREEK -- About 10-12 alpacas were reported on the loose and running down the road at Bear Creek and Whalebone Gulch roads Sunday afternoon, dispatchers said.

The incident was first reported about 3 p.m. and California Highway Patrol was en route to the incident around that time, dispatchers said.

The animals were first reported to be llamas, but were found to be alpacas, according to dispatchers.

Neighbors pitched in to help round the alpacas up, and as of about 3:30 p.m., the animals were all back at the property, dispatchers said.
