SUMMIT -- A 38-year-old Boulder Creek man died in a crash on Highway 35 early Wednesday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.

He was driving north of Summit Road in a 1997 Volvo S60, said CHP officer Bradley Sadek. The driver was headed north, but he crossed into the southbound lane and down an embankment about 12:50 a.m., authorities said.

The cause of the crash had not been released. The man was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car, Sadek said. He was declared dead at the scene.

The man's name has not yet been released.
