Sheriff's deputies say they will seek arrest warrants against a man and his girlfriend after a 4-mile vehicle pursuit and foot chase early Monday in Marina.
Deputies tried to stop a 2001 Buick Infinity shortly before 2 a.m. on Imjin Parkway west of Abrams Drive for having heavily tinted windows and no license plates.
The male driver took off, was chased for four miles, then abandoned the car in front of his Debbie Avenue home and ran away, eluding a police perimeter.
During the foot chase, the driver discarded a loaded, .380-caliber handgun, and deputies found cocaine, marijuana and open containers of alcohol in the vehicle.
The driver was indentified from a driver's license and credit cards in the vehicle, and deputies said he was on probation.
During the incident, the driver's girlfriend came out of the house and tried to interfere with officers and lied about her name, deputies said. Her phone had text messages from the driver saying the police were after him, deputies said.
The suspects were identified as Robert James Ashurst, 32, and Rosie Travis 21.
