SANTA CRUZ -- Seven suspected drug dealers have been arrested in an investigation that started with complaints from Santa Cruz residents in September.
Eric Montalbo, supervisor of the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team, said the team worked with Santa Cruz police after reports of "flagrant drug sales" in city parks and other areas.
"Citizen information played a vital role in the identification and gathering of evidence associated with these cases," Montalbo said.
Larry Augustus Gardner, 40, was arrested during the investigation and eventually was convicted of three counts of drug sales, Montalbo said.
Shaelyn Gonzales, 21, was arrested in November during the investigation into the death of a homeless man who was killed near Depot Park. She also faces charges of selling drugs, according to jail records. She remains in Main Jail with bail set at $500,000.
Brian Earl Taylor, 27, was arrested in March near the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf, according to records. He remained in Main Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, records show.
Michael Sweatt and Aundre Thompson were arrested on suspicion of drug sales with a prior felony strike, Montalbo said.
Willie Palmer was arrested on suspicion of drug sales with a prior conviction and Brice Page was arrested on suspicion of marijuana sales, according to records.
More information on the cases was unavailable Thursday.
