A Marina man has been charged with two counts of vehicle theft, plus one count of possession of stolen property, following an investigation by Monterey and Marina police into vehicles stolen in Monterey.
Kenneth Edward Packer Jr., 24, was taken into custody and booked into Monterey County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Monterey detectives and Marina police arrested Packer at about noon on Tuesday after he was seen trying to start a 2008 Honda CBR600 motorcycle that had been stolen April 18 from the 100 block of Seeno Street in Monterey.
Parked nearby was a 1990 Honda Acura that was stolen from the 100 block of Mar Vista Drive in Monterey on April 22. Witnesses placed Packer with the Acura shortly before detectives arrived at his home.
