SANTA CRUZ -- The Santa Cruz County Clerk's Office is offering appointments for marriage licenses and civil marriage ceremonies for any couple from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the County Building, 701 Ocean St., Santa Cruz.
The County Clerk's Office, along with members of the Board of Supervisors, Out In Our Faith, volunteer priests, ministers and rabbis will be perform ceremonies in three venues.
One of the venues will offer a live broadcast on the Internet via the county's "WedCam" at www.sccoclerk.com.
Couples must reserve a time by calling 831-454-2060 to make an appointment for a marriage license and/or ceremony. There will be staff members checking phone messages several times Saturday and Sunday to book appointments. Ceremonies will be held every 30 minutes. Each couple may have no more than 15 guests.
The cost of the wedding ceremony is $100. A public marriage license is $90 and a confidential marriage license is $90. To obtain a marriage license, each party to the marriage must appear in person with valid photo identification, complete a form providing personal information and take an oath.
Couples must have a valid marriage license prior to the scheduled ceremony. At least one witness needs to be present for the ceremony and the witness must sign the marriage license.
