The medical examiner's office says 63-year-old Richard Riley Noble and 54-year-old Martin Gary Rothwell died when their glider nose-dived into the ground near the Jacumba (yuh-KOOM-bah) Airport.
City News Service reports the glider was towed and the towline was released at 100 feet. It's unclear why the glider lost control.
In a separate accident Saturday, a home-built Less Drag Special plane crashed in a Ventura County field near the Oxnard airport, killing two people aboard.
The Federal Aviation Administration was investigating.
