CAYUCOS, Calif.—An abandoned boat that appeared to have been used to smuggle drugs has been found on a Central Coast beach.

The San Luis County Sheriff's department said the 45-foot boat was found Saturday morning about 1 1/2 miles north of the Cayucos pier. No drugs were on the boat, but evidence indicated it was being used to move narcotics.

The San Luis Obispo Tribune reports ( http://bit.ly/193jUNt) that since May 2012, eight panga-style boats have found their way to the county shoreline as smugglers south of the U.S.-Mexico border move further up the California coastline.
