The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for mountain and valley regions of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties starting Thursday evening. In some areas the advisory will expire at midnight, while in others it will last until 9 a.m. Friday.
Wind gusts between 45 mph and 50 mph are expected in the mountains.
Forecasters say the winds could prove hazardous for high-profile vehicles such as big rigs and RVs.
The winds also prompted the weather service to issue a warning for small ocean-faring craft off the Santa Barbara coastline.
Temperatures are expected in the mid-60s to lower 70s across much of Southern California.
