WALNUT CREEK — Police are looking for a man who robbed a Safeway pharmacy of prescription painkillers Wednesday afternoon, police said.

A man walked into the grocery store at 600 South Broadway about 3:05 p.m. and handed the pharmacy manager a note demanding all of the Oxycodone and Norco medication in the pharmacy, police said. The man took five bottles of the medication and left the store on foot.

Officers searched the area but did not find him.

Police said no weapon was used or seen during the robbery. The suspect was described as a white man in his early 20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build, clean shaven, with dark hair and a dark-colored baseball cap, wearing a dark-colored polo shirt with a white stripe and light-colored shorts.
