 VAMPIRE WEEKEND IN LAFAYETTE? Vampire Weekend emerged as one of the hottest new bands on the planet last year. So with the New York quartet set to tour California next month, you'd expect to find them playing the Fillmore, the Warfield, or ... Lafayette's Town Hall Theatre? Yes, VW will perform at 9 p.m. Nov. 7 at the tiny Lafayette theater, which tends to host about as many rock concerts as a Christian Science reading room. According to promoter Another Planet Entertainment, the band is playing small venues to introduce fans to new songs in an upcoming album, and it specifically requested a small venue in Contra Costa County because the new album is titled "Contra." The band's also booked for 8 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Catylyst in Santa Cruz. Tickets for both shows go on sale at noon Oct. 9 and cost $20 each. Contact 800-745-3000 or www.apeconcerts.com.
