ANTIOCH — Police have arrested someone they believe shot and killed an Antioch man found dead Oct. 23.
Gregory Garland Rossignon, 24, of Antioch, was arrested Friday evening at a home in Pittsburg in connection with the slaying of 18-year-old Demariay Weathers, police said.
Weathers was found shot to death about 3:50 a.m. on Oct. 23 in front of an apartment complex in the 2300 block of Spanos Street. It marked the fifth homicide of the year, matching the total at the same time last year.
An investigation led police to Rossignon, who was tracked to a home on Carpino Avenue in Pittsburg. A SWAT team entered the home and arrested Rossignon, who briefly fought with police before he was subdued. He was booked into County Jail in Martinez and is being held for a probation violation while police prepare to present the case to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.
Investigations Sgt. Diane Aguinaga said police also found the gun believed to have been used in the killing at a separate location.
