PLEASANT HILL — A 21-year-old Pleasant Hill man was killed when his car struck a tree Sunday evening, police said.
Police were called to Taylor Boulevard near Apollo Way about 6:40 p.m. after getting a report of a vehicle crashing into a tree. When officers arrived, they found Zachary Gibbons severely injured and trapped inside, police said.
Firefighters extricated Gibbons and an ambulance took him to the hospital, where he died overnight. Police said Gibbons was the sole occupant of his vehicle and that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
