Yeah, yeah, the New York Yuckees won their 27th World Series title Wednesday, but forget the ticker-tape parade and Hideki Matsui coronation: How did Alex Rodriguez and his favorite squeeze play, Kate Hudson, celebrate?
Hudson and de facto papa Kurt Russell were in the stands for the Game 6 win over the Philadelphia Sillies, after which, Us Magazine reported, she and A-Clod went to New York hot spot 1 Oak.
The couple went with Rodriguez's mom and sister about 2 a.m. and were joined by his teammate Derek Jeter and Jeter's girlfriend, "Friday Night Lights" actress Minka Kelly. Hudson only stayed about a half-hour (party proper!), but a source told Us the others lingered until about 5 a.m.
"Gossip Girl" actor Chace Crawford also was at the 1 Oak after-party, wearing a Skankees cap so no ignoramus would mistake him for Sillies infielder Chase Utley.
Hudson, meanwhile, denied rumors that she's engaged to A-Clod to British Elle magazine, but that popular tattletale known as A. Source told Us that she's a definite good influence on her beau. "He's less of a jerk," the "pal" said.
HOLLABACK AT THIS: No Doubt has taken that ribbon off its eyes and wants to tie it around video game maker Activision's throat.
The band Wednesday sued Activision Publishing Inc. over a feature in the new "Band Hero" game that allows players to control virtual band members (gasp!) and have
The lawsuit objects to the Character Manipulation Feature that "results in an unauthorized performance by the Gwen Stefani avatar in a male voice boasting about having sex with prostitutes" while singing the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Girl." The suit also notes a virtual version of bassist Tony Kanal can be made to sing his band's hit "Just a Girl," but with lead singer Stefani's voice.
The feature turns the band "into a virtual karaoke circus act," the lawsuit claims. The game, an offshoot of Activision's popular "Guitar Hero" series, went on sale Tuesday.
The company, based in Santa Monica, said in a statement that it engaged in extensive negotiations with No Doubt's management and have a valid written agreement for its participation in "Band Hero." And for Activision's next release, "Ventriloquist Hero," it plans a feature where Jeff Dunham's Achmed the Dead Terrorist talks like Wayland Flowers' Madame.
GETTING SOMETHING OUT OF BECK: Conservative political commentator Glenn Beck is expected to make a full recovery after an attack of appendicitis forced him to flee the studio midway through his Wednesday radio show.
Beck, 45, went to an undisclosed hospital, where he was diagnosed and an appendectomy was performed. Christopher Balfe, president of Mercury Radio Arts, Beck's production company, joked that Beck "asked the doctor to draw out the surgery procedure on a blackboard."
A worse diagnosis might have been awkward for satirical news site The Onion, which this week featured the headline "Victim in Fatal Car Accident Tragically Not Glenn Beck."
RUMPLEthinSKIN: "Twilight" heroine Kristen Stewart gave Entertainment Weekly a nice riposte about actors supposedly forfeiting all right to privacy when they take up a profession where the side effects include fame.
Asked for the 2 millionth time whether she's going out with co-star Robert Pattinson, Stewart said, "I probably would've answered it if people hadn't made such a big deal about it. But I'm not going to give the fiending an answer."
"The Fiending" wasn't previewed for critics.
Sorry, Stewart wasn't finished: "People are really funny about 'Well, you chose to be an actor, why don't you just ... give your whole life away?! Can I have your firstborn child?'"
Only after you've spun that straw into gold, pal.
