Cal moved back in the Associated Press Top 25 poll — at No. 21 — after a 34-28 Big Game victory at Stanford on Saturday.

The Bears also jumped from 25th to 22nd in the Bowl Championship Series standings.

Meanwhile, the top six BCS teams — Florida, Alabama, Texas, TCU, Cincinnati and Boise State — are all unbeaten and also are the top six teams in the media poll and USA Today coaches poll. Georgia Tech (10-1) ranks No. 7 on all three lists.

No. 8 Oregon is the first of four Pac-10 teams listed in the BCS standings. Oregon State is 16th and USC is 20th. Cal's losses this season were to those three teams.

The Bears (8-3, 5-3 Pac-10) play at Washington (3-7, 2-5) in their regular-season finale Dec. 5 (kickoff 3:30 p.m., CSNCA).

Also, Bears tailback Shane Vereen was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation's BCS Offensive Player of the Week. He ran for 193 yards and three touchdowns against Stanford.

The Cardinal (7-4, 6-3) fell out of the Top 25. It had been No. 14 in AP and No. 17 in USA Today and the BCS.

Oregon (9-2, 7-1) and Oregon State (8-3, 6-2) meet in Eugene on Dec. 3, with the winner earning the Pac-10 title and a trip to the Rose Bowl against Ohio State. The loser is essentially eliminated from BCS contention.

Barring any major upsets over the next two weeks, the winner of the Florida-Alabama SEC championship game will face Texas in the BCS title game Jan. 7 at the Rose

Notre Dame: Coach Charlie Weis spent the day deflecting questions about his future and focusing on preparation for Saturday's season finale at Stanford. He added he hadn't seen athletic director Jack Swarbrick since the two were in the locker room after a 33-30 double-overtime loss to Connecticut on Saturday. "The most important thing for Coach Weis and the coaching staff is to make sure we do all we can to give players the best plan to be in position to beat Stanford," Weis said. "There's plenty of time for me to answer (questions about the future) at later date." Weis, though, wouldn't blame Notre Dame for firing him. "If they decide to make a change, I'd have to say I'd have a tough time arguing with that. I'd have a tough time arguing that because 6-5 is not good enough," he said. Weis' 35-26 record gives him a .573 winning percentage. That's worse than the .583 winning percentage that got Notre Dame's two previous coaches, Bob Davie and Tyrone Willingham, fired.

Princeton: Coach Roger Hughes was relieved of his duties. He went 47-52 in 10 seasons, including 4-6 this season after beating Dartmouth 23-11 on Saturday.

Youngstown State: Coach Jon Heacock is stepping down after nine seasons that included one trip to the Division I-AA semifinals. The Penguins finished this season 6-5. He replaced Jim Tressel.
