CONCORD — A man shot a friend in the leg after the friend refused to leave the man's mobile home, police said today.

Police were called to the Concord Mobile Home Park on Eileen Drive about 8:45 p.m. Saturday by the suspect, 61-year-old Donald Dunlevy, who reported that he had shot a man inside his home.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he is in critical but stable condition, said Capt. Jim Lardieri.

Dunlevy was friends with the victim, who had been visiting and eventually "overstayed his welcome," Lardieri said. When Dunlevy asked the man to leave, he refused, and then a dispute erupted over money owed between the two.

The argument escalated into a physical fight, and at some point Dunlevy pulled out a handgun and fired one shot at the victim, hitting him in the leg.

Police arrested Dunlevy on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
