WALNUT CREEK — A pair of Orinda siblings have been sentenced to community service and probation for serving alcohol at a party where a 16-year-old boy died last May.
Alexandra Gabrielli, 20, and Patrick Gabrielli, 18, each pleaded no contest Tuesday to one misdemeanor count of furnishing alcohol to a minor, according to court records. They were each sentenced to 200 hours community service and two years probation, and were ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.
The siblings hosted a party on May 23 at which Miramonte High School sophomore Joseph Loudon of Orinda fatally choked on his own vomit. A small amount of alcohol was found in his system. No one has been charged with wrongdoing in Loudon's death, which was ruled to be accidental.
Another 16-year-old boy was also charged with a misdemeanor in connection with alcohol served at the party. Prosecutors said they could not legally comment on whether there has been a disposition in that case, because the offense does not fall into the category of serious crimes involving juveniles that would be of public record.
