The Contra Costa Sheriff's department is investigating two robberies at East Bay 7-Eleven convenience stores Monday night that appear to be related.
The first occurred at 11:15 p.m. at the 7-Eleven store on the 3300 block of Mt. Diablo Boulevard in Lafayette, said sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee. Three male suspects brandished a handgun at an employee and took a small amount of money before fleeing in a car. The clerk was not injured.
About a half-hour later an employee at the 7-Eleven store on the 1200 block of Boulevard Way in unincorporated Walnut Creek reported that three men matching the description from the first incident attempted to rob the store, Lee said. The employee said the suspects fled without any money.
Descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle were not available. Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call 925-313-2600.
