ORINDA -- Firefighters fought a 2.5-acre grass fire off eastbound Highway 24 this afternoon.
Sixty fire personnel brought the fire, reported at about 1:20 p.m. at the Camino Pablo exit, under control in about 30 minutes, said Moraga-Orinda fire marshal Michael Mentink.
The vegetation fire was contained to the landscape island between the off-ramp and the freeway. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported, Mentink said.
Moraga-Orinda firefighters were assisted by Contra Costa Fire Protection District, East Bay Regional Park District and Cal Fire.
The cause is under investigation.
The off-ramp was closed for hours due to the fire. It reopened at 4 p.m.
