Despite a valiant effort from the host Titans, the Spartans escaped with a victory, due in large part to running backs James Lewis and Carvonte Hill.

Lewis rushed for 225 yards on 23 carries, including four runs of over 30 yards. Hill formed a nearly unstoppable tandem with Lewis, adding 92 yards rushing and a 38-yard touchdown run.

Hercules (4-4, 1-3 ACCAL) kept itself within striking distance, however, allowing only 10 points to Pinole Valley through three quarters. Trailing 10-0 after halftime, the Titan offense broke through with a five-play, 62-yard drive which culminated with a 25-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Tyden Holmes.

After stopping the Spartans on fourth down on the following drive, Hercules struck again with a 73-yard touchdown pass to running back Joseph Beardon to take a 14-10 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Pinole Valley (7-0-1, 4-0) responded by feeding the ball to Hill and Lewis, who put the game away with two long touchdown runs of 38 and 42 yards respectively.
