A San Carlos man who allegedly flashed a fraudulent badge to sheriff's deputies was arrested Friday for impersonating a police officer.

Police said Michael Anthony Juricich identified himself as a law enforcement officer to San Mateo County sheriff's deputies on several occasions between June 21 and July 11 and had a fake badge.

The 48-year-old resident who lives in the 3300 block of Brittan Avenue first passed himself as an officer at the San Carlos sheriff's substation.

Police said he went there and claimed to need a police report for a custody hearing. Police didn't say Monday night whether he got the document.

Investigators later learned that he is not in law enforcement and never has been.

Juricich was arrested in front of his house around 4:35 p.m. Friday and has since been released from San Mateo County jail on $10,000 bail. He faces six counts each of impersonating a police officer and having a fake government ID.
