LIVERMORE -- The Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority announced last week that it will provide bus service to the July 4 festival and fireworks show at Las Positas College.

The authority, which operates the Wheels bus system in the Tri-Valley, will have service every 30 minutes at certain stops along Route 12, beginning at 4 p.m. The general fares are $2; $1 for seniors and free for children 6-years-and-under.

A group of Livermore residents formed a committee that raised more than $30,000 to bring the annual fireworks celebration back after a one-year hiatus. The city of Livermore and the Livermore Area Recreation Park District were forced to cancel the 26-year-old event in 2011 because of budget issues.

Tickets for the event are $20 per carload in advance, or $25 at the gate. Walk-ins are $5 per person. For more information visit www.lavta.org or ww.livermorefireworks.org.
