DUBLIN -- Camp Parks is planning controlled burns from June 18-22 to reduce wildfire hazards at the 2,400-acre training facility and to provide wildfire training to a host of Bay Area fire departments.
The scheduled five-day burn is expected to start each day at 9 a.m. at the base located in central Dublin, but will depend on weather conditions and Bay Area Air Quality Management District requirements, said Dan Gannod, chief of public affairs for Camp Parks.
At least seven different fire departments are expected to take part in the training exercise and will include fire personnel from Camp Parks, Livermore/Pleasanton, Fremont, East Bay Regional Park District, Alameda County, Cal Fire and San Ramon Valley.
Other Bay Area fire departments may also participate.
Questions about the controlled burn should be directed to the Camp Parks Public Affairs office at 925-875-4298.
