HAYWARD -- A 20-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night on a street not far from Interstate 880, a spokesman for the Alameda County Sheriff's office said Tuesday.
The name of the man has not been released pending notification of his family. He was shot abut 9:30 p.m. Monday by someone in a group of people he was with in the 400 block of Bartlett Avenue in an unincorporated area of Alameda County, said sheriff's spokesman Sgt. J.D. Nelson.
It appears the victim and the shooter knew each other and police are currently interviewing witnesses, Nelson said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Alameda County Coroner's Office could release his identity later Tuesday.
Anyone with information about the killing should call the sheriff's office at (510) 667-3636.
