HERCULES -- Funeral services have been announced for Susie Ko, a former schoolteacher and mother of four found stabbed to death in her Hercules home last week.
The public funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. at Saint Patrick's Church on 7th Street in Rodeo, according to a post on the family's memorial website. A viewing will take place at the same location Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
Flower arrangements may be sent to St. Patrick's Church on Thursday, or may be contributed to the service directly through Dream World Floral, the family said in the post.
Ko was found stabbed to death in her home on Ash Court by neighbors about 10:45 p.m. Oct. 5, police said. Darnell Keith Washington, 24, and Tania Washington, 25, were named as suspects in Ko's death, and were arrested at gunpoint Wednesday morning in the city of SeaTac, a suburb of Seattle, after a monthlong crime spree that included a jailbreak and the nonfatal shooting of a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy, Hercules police Det. Connie Van Putten said.
The pair was driving a stolen Subaru Outback that belonged to Ko at the time of their arrest, Van Putten said. Police in California and Washington are also trying to determine if the pair committed other robberies or carjackings as they traveled north from San Bernardino County.
A SeaTac police officer spotted the vehicle Wednesday morning and ran the license plate, a Washington State plate that the pair had apparently swapped for the Idaho plate on Ko's car, authorities said.
When the plate came back as stolen, the officer attempted to stop the car. Instead, Tania rammed the patrol car and led police on a chase. At one point, she climbed in the back seat and gave the wheel to her husband, who rammed several police cars before he was boxed in and police finally arrested the couple.
A website for the King County Jail said that both Darnell and Tania Washington were being held without bail on suspicion of assault, vehicle theft, weapons violations and attempting to elude police. The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office is expected to file charges against the pair late next week.
