Incumbent Karl Wandry has beaten his challenger in the Contra Costa Water District Board race.

Wandry held a large lead throughout Tuesday night's voting tally.

The two men were vying for one open seat on the board, representing more than 500,000 residents in Central and East County.

The district, governed by five elected directors overseeing about 110,000 residents, works to protect the quality of its Delta water and operates the Los Vaqueros Reservoir.

The open seat this election was Division 5, which represents parts of Antioch, Oakley, Brentwood, and the Los Vaqueros Reservoir watershed.
