'Humbug in Antioch for 38 years
ANTIOCH -- Resurrection Theatre presents its 38th annual "Humbug at the Virginia J. Calisesi Studio Theater, 512 W. Second St.
Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Additional performances are 7:30 p.m. Dec. 21; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 22; and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 23 and 1 p.m. Dec. 24.
Based on Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol, the traditional Antioch Christmas classic with a Christian message is directed by Frank J. Ballesteros who also stars as Scrooge.

Stage Right presents 'It s a Wonderful Life
ANTIOCH -- Stage Right Conservatory Theatre continues "It s a Wonderful Life at the Nick Rodriguez Community Center, 213 F St. in Antioch.
Performances are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Adapted by James W. Rodgers, the play is based on the film by Frank Capra and produced by special arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Co. Bryan Anthony directs.
"It s a Wonderful Life is the saga of George Bailey, the Everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls, whose dreams of escape and adventure have been quashed by family obligation and civic duty. George s guardian angel descends on Christmas Eve to save him from despair and to remind him what the world would have been like had he never been born, and to show him that his life has been, after all, a wonderful life.

World-renowned Academy performs in Antioch
ANTIOCH -- The Antioch Seventh-day Adventist Church presents an "O Holy Night Christmas concert 7 p.m. Friday at 2200 Country Hills Drive.
The evening features British Columbia s world-renown Fountainview Academy orchestra and choir, performing Christmas favorites such as "O Holy Night, "Silent Night, "Hallelujah Chorus and other holiday classics. All are invited to hear the message of Christmas shared from young talented hearts brimming with the love and passion of the season.

Concert will raise money for trip to London
PITTSBURG -- A concert fundraiser for the Pittsburg High School Marching Band is set for 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Pittsburg High School, 1750 Harbor St. The proceeds will help pay for the band s performance at the 2014 London New Year s Day Parade.
The concert lineup includes local bands Quiet Game Starting Now, The Doods, October s Desire, Avalanche Wars, Demon Seed, Coda, Good Burrittos Don t Fall Apart and Safety Hazard.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door.
Brentwood Church to present a Christmas cantata
BRENTWOOD -- Brentwood Community United Methodist Church Choir performs Festival of Carols 7:30 p.m. Saturday at 809 Second St.
This inspiring cantata is a narrated mixture of traditional rich carols and seasonal songs presenting the Christmas story.

ANTIOCH -- Deer Valley High School presents an annual Winter Choir Concert 7 p.m. Thursday at the Deer Valley High School Theater, 4700 Lone Tree Way. An evening of musical entertainment featuring more than 200 vocal students. General admission is $5 and $3 for students with a Teal Card. Tickets are available at the door.
'Nutcracker set at El Campanil Theater
ANTIOCH -- Brentwood Children s Ballet Theater opens its eighth annual production of the "The Nutcracker Saturday at the El Campanil Theatre, 602 W. Second St.
The timeless holiday tradition brings a young girl s Christmas dream to life. This beautiful production is geared toward children s enjoyment but will also entertain the young at heart.
Performances are noon and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Reserved seating is $20 for orchestra, $18 for loge and $16 for opera.
A special reduced price is offered at the 4 p.m. performance on Saturday. Doors will open at 3 p.m. with an opportunity for guests to have their photo taken with the dancers. Admission is $18 for orchestra, $16 for loge and $14.
Brentwood Writes hosts poetry open mic
BRENTWOOD -- Brentwood Writes will bring all forms of the written word at Open Mic at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Gallery on Second.
All short work -- poetry, short story, nonfiction, or any other creative work -- is welcome. Participants are allowed five minutes each to perform. The group encourages participants to bring work on any subject, their own or that of another writer, as long as it is neither insulting nor abusive. Everyone is invited whether performing or listening and enjoying.
This event is free and open to the public. Brentwood Writes is an adjunct of the Brentwood Art Society and the Brentwood Community Library. Kati Short, poet laureate, is the host.

Local art group looking fro artist for show
PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg Arts Collaborative is looking for local artists and volunteers in preparation for its Annual Winter Art Exhibit opening Jan. 19 at the Impulse Gallery at 329 Railroad Ave.
Submission of artwork will take place Jan. 12 and 13 at the Impulse Gallery. However, much work needs to be done in preparation for that date and PACO is looking for volunteers to help.
Each artist may submit three pieces for a $35 entry fee. PACO s artist s opening reception will be held on Jan. 19, between 6 and 8 p.m. and feature cash awards, live music, hors d oeuvres and refreshments.
Local artists show continues at Lynn House
ANTIOCH -- The eighth annual Local Artists Collection runs through Dec. 22 at the Lynn House Gallery, 809 W. First St.
The exhibit, a local favorite, features more than 35 local artists and is a diverse, non-themed, mixed-media exhibit of artworks featuring paintings and photographs. The show is a local favorite and provides the community an opportunity to view and purchase art during the holiday season.
A reception will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the gallery. The reception and exhibit are free. The Lynn House Gallery is open Wednesdays and Saturdays, during exhibits from 1 to 4 p.m.
