Healthcare District to fill vacancy through appointment

The Los Medanos Community Healthcare District will fill a vacancy resulting from the death last year of former board member Darnell Turner through an appointment.

Board members voted this week to use the appointment process instead of holding a special election to fill the vacancy.

Those who are interested in being considered for the appointment should send a letter of interest, resume and at least one reference from a member of the community to Bobbi Palmer, chief executive officer, Los Medanos Healthcare District, P.O. Box 8698, Pittsburg, CA 94565. The information can also be emailed to bpalmerlmchd@aol.com and bkeelmchd553@gmail.com or faxed to 925-432-2200 by noon Jan. 4.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and live in the district boundaries, which include Pittsburg, Bay Point and unincorporated areas of Antioch and Clayton.

Voters re-elected Turner in November. His name remained on the ballot because it was too late for it to be removed following his death in September.
