We can promise that you've never seen Peeps like this. We are accustomed to seeing them lined up in neat little rows, tucked into tidy boxes, not lying motionless beneath a fondant shroud, or hanging from the Eiffel Tower, or plunging a dagger into its marshmallowy breast.
When we set readers the task of creating Peeps dioramas, they blew creativity off the charts. Choosing our three favorites was a difficult job for our judges, but we finally winnowed the winners from the mere contenders. Here they are: "Peeps Blanket Babylon" by Dora Grinnell, of San Jose. The Peeps star in the production with impossible headdresses, to the delight of the Peep audience.
"Burning Peep" by friends and co-workers Bree Marchman, of Oakland, and Haley Mears, of Petaluma. The pair say that Peeps are fun-loving, so they would probably enjoy "dressing up and getting down on the playa" at their version of Burning Man. The Peeps even constructed Burning Peep to complete their celebration. "CSI: Las Vegas" by Alicia Chan, Katherine Alexander, Camille Hironaka and Anne Youngdahl, of Sunnyvale. Their project won points for being detailed and capturing the general gruesomeness of "CSI," in a candy sort of way.
