When it came to the cast of "Expendables 3," Bruce Willis was apparently expendable.

So Willis is out, and Harrison Ford is in, the Hugffington Post reported Wednesdsay. And, no, the switcheroo apparently did not go smoothly.

While details weren't available, it was widely reported Wednesday that Willis' exit came amid a tiff with Sylvestor Stallone, the film's star and screenwriter.

Willis appeared in the first two "Expendables" films, along with Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Terry Crews and seemingly every other male actor with a talent for laying waste to entire cities while uttering pithy one-liners.

Stallone announced the change on Twitter Tuesday: "WILLIS OUT... HARRISON FORD IN !!!! GREAT NEWS !!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!"

But Stallone also posted this: "GREEDY AND LAZY ...... A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE."

A rep for Stallone confirmed to Huffington Post and other sources that the item was indeed aimed at Willis, but offered no other details. Willis has not commented on the matter.

Production on "Expendables 3" is set to begin this month, the Huffington Post reported. Other newcomers to the cast include Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes and Milla Jovovich. Mel Gibson is also reportedly in talks to make an appearance.

The film is slated for an August 2014 release.
