An overabundance of small dogs in East Bay shelters is being relieved somewhat as 28 tiny pooches were flown to Boise, Idaho, where there is a shortage, on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013. Bundled up against the cold morning in sweaters, 28 small breed dogs from the East Bay were flown by the nonprofit Wings of Rescue from Livermore Municipal Airport. The dogs are from East Bay organizations including Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter, Berkeley Animal Care Services, Hopalong Animal Rescue, Oakland Animal Services and the Antioch Animal Shelter. Fifty more dogs were to be picked up in Sacramento en route to Boise.
