The only thing preventing a boxing match between DMX and George Zimmerman is money, according to TMZ.
Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman told the website that the rapper was chosen out of 15,000 applicants, all of whom wanted a piece of Zimmerman after he issued the open challenge to fight anyone willing to take him.
Zimmerman remains in the spotlight after he was acquitted last year after shooting teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida.
DMX's rep said Wednesday that negotiations are ongoing and nothing is official yet.
Feldman released a statement late Tuesday saying the pair would square off in a three-round match, with the time, date and place to be announced next Wednesday, if terms are agreed upon.
TMZ previously reported DMX said, "I am going to beat the living (expletive) out him ... I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I (expletive) him right up."
