No rock act had a better 2013 than Imagine Dragons.
The group managed to pull off an amazing feat -- scoring both the top-selling rock album ("Night Visions") and rock single ("Radioactive") of last year. Not coincidentally, the group has now moved up from playing theaters to headlining arenas.
Imagine Dragons performs Thursday at the SAP Center in San Jose. The Naked and Famous open. Show time is 7 p.m. and tickets are $29.50-$52.50, www.ticketmaster.com.
Thao and the Get Down Stay Down is one of the Bay Area's best bands.
It's led by vocalist-guitarist Thao Nguyen, who is nothing short of a mesmerizing presence onstage. The San Francisco alt-folk-rock group has performed at many notable festivals, including the mammoth local affair Outside Lands, and has released several well-received albums.
Thao and the Get Down Stay Down performs Friday at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Sonny and the Sunsets open the 9 p.m. show. Tickets are $20, www.livenation.com.
