Arizona preview capsule

HEAD COACH: Rich Rodriguez 1st year at Arizona, 120-84-2/18 years overall

2011 RECORD: 4-8, 2-7/5th (tie) in Pac-12 South

KEY PLAYERS: Senior QB Matt Scott, who redshirted last season, is a skilled runner ideally suited to operate Rich Rod's spread-option attack . . . Senior C Kyle Quinn anchors a veteran line that should be vastly improved after its poor showing last season . . . Junior LB Jake Fischer is a high-energy playmaker in the middle of the defense who missed the 2011 season with a knee injury.

OVERVIEW: The Wildcats underachieved last season, resulting in Mike Stoops getting the midyear boot. They have newfound enthusiasm under Rodriguez and enough playmakers to compete for a bowl berth. But the schedule is difficult with Oklahoma State and trips to Oregon, Stanford and Utah.
