Grizzled war photographer Sarah Goodwin returns home from Iraq in "Time Stands Still." She is lucky to be alive, lucky to be home but alas the scars on her beautiful face and her bum leg aren't the only injuries she's suffered as a photo journalist.
Bearing witness to the savage side of humanity has altered her insides as well. Those emotional wounds run hard and deep in this probing drama of life's many battles. Widely considered among Donald Margulies' finest work since the Pulitzer Prize-winning "Dinner With Friends" and the trenchant "Collected Stories," "Time" starred Laura Linney in its New York debut.
Directed by Leslie Martinson, this TheatreWorks regional premiere runs Aug. 22 through Sept. 16 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. $23-$73, 650-463-1960, www.theatreworks.org.
