Driverless cars may be the motor vehicles of California's near future, thanks to legislation approved by Gov. Jerry Brown last week. They're supposed to be safer, never getting drunk or breaking traffic laws. But watch out for the ones that go bad:

1. "Christine" (1983) -- This carefully restored red 1958 Plymouth Fury named Christine has a deadly past and turns out to be possessed by the devil, going around killing people. Thank you Stephen King.

2. "The Car" (1977) -- This aptly titled film stars James Brolin battling a sinister black coupe that terrorizes a small Utah town. Once again, demon possession is suspected.

3. "Duel" (1971) -- Directed by a young Steven Spielberg, "Duel" was a TV movie starring Dennis Weaver being relentlessly pursued by an evil Peterbilt 281 gasoline tanker truck.

4. "Maximum Overdrive" (1986) -- Stephen King strikes again with a bunch of big rig trucks that come to life and try to kill a group of people trapped in a truckstop. Emilio Estevez tries to save the day. This time it's not demons, but possible extraterrestrial involvement.

5. "Wheels of Terror" (1990) — A TV movie where a demonic black Dodge Charger goes on a kidnap-and-killing rampage. And runs lots of red lights in the process. Bad car, bad!
